In 2018, driven by a vision to revolutionize access to psychotherapy, I established AMR Therapy. This online sliding-scale practice emerged from a deep passion to serve the queer, BIPOC communities, and those in non-traditional relationships, ensuring mental health services were both accessible and affordable. Today, as we traverse a world reshaped by technology and a global pandemic, AMR Therapy currently serve over 400 clients across Arizona, California, Delaware, and more.
The Journey of AMR Therapy
The mission has always been clear – to foster a safe, inclusive space for those often sidelined by mainstream mental health services. As pioneers in remote counseling, we didn’t just adapt to an online model; we recognized its potential early on to reach clients across financial barriers and physical boundaries without compromising the quality of care. Our diverse team of professionals has impacted the lives of over 1,500 individuals since our inception, each with their unique stories and challenges.
Expanding Horizons: CEUs and Beyond
My journey didn’t end with the establishment of AMR Therapy. Recognizing the evolving needs of the mental health profession and the communities we serve, I ventured into creating Continuing Education Units (CEUs) focusing on sexual empowerment, queerness, and religiosity. The first of these, aimed at equipping therapists to work with clients in ENM relationships, signifies a leap towards filling critical knowledge gaps within the profession. These will be available on my website in the coming months.
“Her Own Terms”: A Manifesto for Modern Female Sexuality
Amidst this professional evolution, I am authoring “Her Own Terms”, a groundbreaking book dedicated to navigating the complex landscape of modern female sexuality. This work promises to be a vital resource, offering an innovative empowerment framework that integrates CBT, sex-positive attitudes, and psychodynamic insights, tailored for women and mental health professionals alike.
A Call to Action: Building Community and Knowledge
As I continue to blaze new trails, from facilitating AMR Therapy’s first non-monogamy group to offering consulting services, the core mission remains steadfast – to empower, educate, and engage. This journey is about more than growing a practice or writing a book; it’s about cultivating a community of informed, compassionate professionals who can make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
